Westminster Assembly of 1644
Who We Are
Reformed Independent Church of Colorado Springs (RICCS) is founded as a presbyterian congregation, returning to the Dutch Reformed tradition flowing out of the Protestant Reformation. Although RICCS is not affiliated with a particular denomination at this time, we are firmly dedicated to traditional Dutch presbyterianism and ecclesiology, and our church order clearly lays out our commitment to be on the constant look out for other like-minded churches and denominations to federate with, or to form ecumenical relations with. Consequently, we have initiated an ecumenical affiliation with the Vanguard Presbyterian Church, and are continuing to seek out other denomination/federations to fellowship with.
RICCS is a distinctly confessional, Dutch reformed congregation established firmly upon the creeds and confessions of the historic Christian church, the reformed creeds and confessions, and more specifically, the traditional Dutch church order of the Synod of Dort. The Consistory of RICCS desires to remain steadfast in the Dutch Reformed tradition without compromising our reformed heritage, in order to safeguard and preserve the integrity of traditional reformed confessionalism, theology, and practice against liberalizing tendencies of current Reformed denominations.
The purpose of Christ’s church is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. And to do this, Christ organized his church in order to gather and perfect the saints in this life until the end of the world, and as such, Christ has given the ministry, Holy Scriptures, and ordinances of God to this universal visible church, and by his own presence and Spirit, he enables the church to function in this way according to his promise in the gospel.
